5th Grade KAMP 2019

Building a bonfire, zip lining in the forest, cooking stew in a can…The fifth grade students got the experience of a lifetime when they ventured to Pupukea to go camping with KAMP Hawaii.

Most of the fifth graders never had the opportunity to set up a cot and sleep in a tent before. The KAMP Hawaii staff carefully guided them through all these new experiences. They hiked in the forest collecting branches for a campfire. They participated in different team building activities. They walked blindfolded through the forest and crawled through a spiderweb. They took a quick dip in a chilly swimming pool, then ate a dinner of vegetable stew cooked by their classmates. The evening culminated with a beautiful bonfire, funny skits, smores and a night hike. After a restful sleep in tents, they woke up, cooked their own breakfast, then hiked in the forest. Sadly it was time to leave.

Camp was an experience the fifth graders will never forget!
