Weekly Update 5/05-5/10

Attitude of Gratitude

Aloha AES Ohana,

It's Teacher Appreciation Week!

Please join me in celebrating our teachers who dedicate their time to fostering our children's growth and development. They go above and beyond to ensure every student receives the highest quality of education and learning. They deserve our deepest gratitude for their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to our students.

Here are some ways we can show our appreciation to our teachers:

May 5th to May 10th

MONDAY: TEACHERS ARE NOTEWORTHY 📝

Write your teacher appreciation notes or bring them something they can write on, write with, or decorate their notes with.

🪴 TUESDAY: TEACHERS HELP US GROW

Bring flowers or something that grows. To show you are ready to learn and grow (maybe a plant or some seeds).

WEDNESDAY: TEACHERS ARE THE BERRY BEST! 🍓

Be your “berry” best self or get your teacher some fresh fruit or something you know they will enjoy.

☕️ THURSDAY: TEACHERS DEW A LATTE

“Dew” your best in class and listen a “latte” or bring your teacher’s favorite beverage

FRIDAY: TEACHERS ARE MAGNIFICENT & MARVELOUS! 🧁

They are M&Ms! Be a treat in class by being your sweetest self.

Remember this is all optional and we don’t expect anyone to go out and spend money. Use this time to thank a teacher and show your appreciation for their dedication.

Let’s work together to make this week extra special for our amazing teachers! Mahalo for all your support!

Weekly Update 4/22-4/26

Attitude of Gratitude

Aloha AES Ohana,

Please join me in celebrating our 27 Junior Police Officers who participated in last week's State-wide Field Day at Corps Field in Waipio. Our students competed with determination against the top schools on the island in drills and formations. Under the guidance of Mr. Donnelly, our JPO students displayed outstanding leadership, teamwork, and resilience.

A big mahalo to Mr. Donnelly for mentoring our JPO students throughout the year and coordinating the field day event. He helped coordinate the early morning setup, including reserving the area and arranging tents, ensuring our students had the best seats in the park. We extend our gratitude to the Donnelly Ohana for all their help that day!

We also want to recognize our Lego Robotics Team, which participated in a friendly competition with six other schools at Kapalama Elementary this past Saturday. Nine students represented our school, competing even against middle school teams. We commend the 3rd and 4th graders for their grit, perseverance, and teamwork.

Special thanks to our Robotics teacher, Mr. Tawata, for volunteering his time and coaching our team to highlight their talents. These experiences will guide them as they navigate the evolving world and become our future engineers and technicians.

Lastly, we thank the parents who attended the JPO and Robotics competitions to cheer on our school teams. Your support is deeply appreciated, and we look forward to seeing you at future events.

Please have an amazing week! Go Ali‘is!

Weekly Update 9/18-9/22

Attitude of Gratitude

Thank you AES office staff for helping our families and school community!

Mahalo for your continued support

Aloha AES Parents/Guardians,

Thank you to all of you who completed the Free and Reduced Meal Application. If you have not, please consider completing an application, even if you do not think you qualify. As a reminder, if there has been any change in your household (new family members or income changes) you can reapply at any time during the school year.

As a Title I school, Ali'iolani Elementary School receives federal funding which supports our students by funding programs that may not be covered by our annual budget. This includes academic subscriptions that support student learning, curriculum materials, family learning activities, Seesaw, and after-school tutoring.

As of today, we are in danger of losing our status for the next school year.  We are hoping that everyone completes the application by the due date of September 19th, and it will help us to retain Title I funding and continue to provide these awesome programs and academic supports for all of our students. You may complete the application online at www.ezmealapp.com

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the office at 808-733-4750.

Mahalo for your consideration.
