Weekly Update 9/2-9/6

Principal's Message

Aloha Parents,

I hope you are enjoying your 3-day weekend with loved ones!

We wanted to express our sincere gratitude for your understanding as we held our professional development training on August 26th. Your support allows us to continue enhancing our teaching practices for the benefit of all our students.

Last week, our Kaimuki Complex schools came together to learn about Teacher Clarity. This powerful approach will equip our teachers to:

  • Clearly Communicating Learning Intentions: Students will always know what they are learning and why it's important.

  • Providing Success Criteria: Students will understand when they have achieved the learning intention (objective).

  • Creating a Positive and Supportive Classroom Environment: Students will feel confident and motivated to learn.

Ali'iolani is dedicated to implementing Teacher Clarity to provide our students with the best possible learning experience. We believe this approach will empower our students to take ownership of their learning and reach their full potential.

Mahalo for your continued support!

Leonard Padayhag, Principal

Principal's Message

Aloha AES Ohana,

We are excited to share that our school is committed to enhancing teacher clarity in the classroom to ensure student success. Teacher Clarity is a professional development initiative aimed at improving teacher communication and instruction, making learning more effective and engaging for all students.

On August 26th, our teachers will be participating in professional development sessions focused on Teacher Clarity. They will learn strategies to:

  • Clearly communicate Learning Intentions: Students will know exactly what is expected of them.

  • Provide students with Success Criteria: Students will know when they have accomplished the learning objective.

  • Create a positive and supportive classroom environment: Students will feel confident about themselves and know what their next steps are.

We believe that by focusing on Teacher Clarity, we can create a more equitable and effective learning environment for all students. We are excited to see the positive impact this initiative will have on your child's education.

Mahalo for your continued support.

Aloha AES Ohana,

We’re off to an exciting start to the school year! Thank you for your continued support as we navigate these first few weeks together. Your partnership in helping your child adjust to their new classroom and routines is invaluable.
