Summer School Update
Ali‘iolani Elementary is one of the few lucky schools that has been selected to receive CARES Act funding to be a Learning Hub for summer learning. Right now, we are trying to gauge our families' interest in participating in this opportunity.
Being parents ourselves, we understand the many factors to consider in whether to send your child back to school. We reassure you, the school will be well-prepared to follow the CDC recommendations for opening schools.
In the event we have more students than we can safely accept, student selection will be done by a team of teachers and administration. Student performance, work samples and diagnostic data will be considered and selection will be based on greatest academic need.
This summer program is scheduled to run from June 8, 2020 until July 2, 2020. The focus will be on language arts and math. There will be a morning session from 8:00am – 11:00am, and an afternoon session from 11:30am – 2:30pm. Student will only be participating in one session.
If you are interested in having your child participate, please contact Mr. Hosoda with your child's name and current grade level by Wednesday, May 20, 2020. Once we determine how many students are interested, we will send home another notice with more information. Please be flexible because things may change depending on the current status of the pandemic.
